Locker Hooking - the Basics

Locker hooking is a fairly simple craft with very satisfying results. Locker hooked fabric can be used to make rugs, mats, bags and wall hangings. You can also use the technique to embellish open weave hats, loose knit sweaters and more.

Fibres, fabric strips or novelty yarns are looped through the canvas with a hook (shown in green) and secured in place with a length of string or yarn (shown in red).

The samples below (from top) show locker hooking created from Dyed Wool tops, strips of fabric and doubled-up novelty yarns.
