Silk will not wet felt but can be used with felting needles to create embellishments or 3d objects. Place the silk fibres in layers between mesh sheeting and add a medium to create silk paper (view this page in the Fact File to find out more). Some of the silk fibres retain the sericin which is the 'glue' that binds the cocoon. This can be activated by spaying the fibres with water and pressing between sheets of baking paper with a hot iron
